HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR SHIPMENTS TO THE USA?

The delivery time for shipments to the USA varies. Shipments to the East Coast or zones with large airports usually take 6 - 10 days, while shipments to rural areas or the West Coast can take 9 - 15 days. As local shipments are usually delivered by USPS, the delivery time depends on the respective zone.

Express shipments usually take 2 days, but are also more expensive.

There you will be redirected to the page with the shipment details and can now see the status of your shipment. If your shipment is already on its way, you will also be shown the link for the respective shipping service and can track your shipment with the respective postal or parcel service.

Pakajo offers 3-in-1 tracking numbers

Pakajo Start Tracking

The pakajo tracking number "UPG-123456" is generated when the shipment is created. Upon request, the recipient receives a processing confirmation at the moment that his shipment is now being prepared for dispatch. With the UPG number, the recipient can immediately track their shipment via the pakajo tracking page. The recipient also receives a processing and shipping confirmation for shipments without tracking.

Pakajo Final Tracking

As soon as the shipment has arrived at a pakajo shipping center, the shipment is confirmed in the pakajo system and receives a 9-digit "113456789" number.

Now the nine-digit number is married to the UPG number and all the necessary shipping information for the sender and the recipient is added to the shipment. The recipient now knows that his shipment is on its way to him.

Pakajo Shipping Tracking

When the shipment is processed, the final tracking number of the shipping service is now also added to the shipment. The numbers often start with LY or 0034, but this depends on the shipping service. As soon as the shipment has been registered with the shipping service, a blue button for the postal and parcel service appears in the shipment tracking.

Track your shipments with aftership on the web or the app

You can also track your pakajo shipments at aftership. You can find pakajo as a shipping service in the aftership portal. The aftership app also offers very good shipment tracking, which informs you of every current shipping status. At aftership you can enter your pakajo tracking numbers as follows and track your shipments: UPG-123456 or UPG123456 or 123456. Of course, you can also track your shipments using the final tracking numbers of the respective shipping providers, such as Deutsche Post, DHL, DPD, Post NL, bpost and many others.


NOTE: pakajo sends recipients a delivery e-mail that the parcel has been delivered or is ready for collection at the parcel store!

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR SHIPPING TO THE USA

CUSTOMS DECLARATION


A customs declaration is very important for international shipping outside the EU. This declaration informs customs officials about the contents and value of your package. The information in the customs declaration is used to calculate the country-specific import sales taxes and customs duties, which then have to be paid by the recipient.


To ensure smooth customs clearance, it is important to complete the relevant customs declaration CN 23 for parcel shipments outside the EU. Attach the document clearly visible to the outside of your parcel in a shipping bag. In contrast, the customs declaration CN 22 must be used when shipping via the post office. In any case, the customs declaration for shipping to the USA should be attached to the address side of your shipment.


Please note that the customs declaration for shipping to the USA must be completed in English. This ensures smooth processing by the US customs authorities. Make sure all information is correct and complete to avoid delays or problems with delivery.


COMMERCIAL INVOICE


If you are shipping with parcel services such as UPS or DHL, you will also need a commercial invoice in English. It informs the customs officials about your goods, the entire shipping process and you as the sender. Please attach the commercial invoice to the outside of your package in a shipping bag. The commercial invoice must be attached to the package in triplicate.
TIP: To be on the safe side, also include a commercial invoice in the package.

CUSTOMS DUTIES & IMPORT SALES TAX FOR SHIPPING TO THE USA

Before shipping to the USA, inform your customers that costs for customs clearance and import sales tax will be incurred. These costs are collected by the recipient. Please note that the amount of the costs always depends on the information on the customs declaration and can therefore vary greatly.


Depending on the value of your parcel shipment to the USA, you will need either form CN 22 or form CN 23 for the customs declaration. The threshold value here is around €350 or, more precisely, 300 SDRs (Special Drawing Rights, comparative value for the four most important international currencies).


Each customs declaration requires an HS code number. This usually consists of 6 or 8 numbers. Pakajo has stored the customs database for you in 10 languages in the system. If you enter the first few characters in the description field, you will receive suggestions for content descriptions for your CN22/23. The customs tariff number is then automatically entered in the HS code field.


A little fun fact on the side: A record is not called a vinyl record in customs terminology, but rather Rillentonträger. The HS code is 85221000 for onabnehmer & Rillentonträger. You must enter "Rillentonträger" in the customs database to get the result. 


In any case, write out name until you get the optimum result. For example, if you just write “Rillen” you will get results for “Aprikosen/Marillen”.


CUSTOMS FORM FOR USA


Shipment up to a value of approx. 350 € Form CN 22 (pakajo automatically adds it via the shipping label)

You can send private mail and parcels duty-free to the United States up to a value of 100 US dollars. The US import regulations for perfumes and tobacco products provide exceptions. These are only duty-free if the value of the entire package shipment is less than $5. In principle, alcohol may not be sent by post. The recipient must pay customs duties on packages that exceed the free limit. Make sure to fill out a customs declaration, as this is necessary for all shipments of goods to the USA.


Textiles with a value of more than 250 US dollars and all other goods with a value of more than 2,000 US dollars cannot be sent by post. According to US customs regulations, the import of such goods is only permitted via special customs brokers. The commercial importation of foodstuffs is only possible with written authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.


HOW MUCH CUSTOMS DUTY DO I HAVE TO PAY WHEN SHIPPING TO THE USA?


The shipment of gifts to the USA is duty-free up to a value of $100. However, this does not apply to tobacco products, alcohol and alcohol-based perfumes (unless the entire shipment has a value of less than $5).


American authorities can calculate the duty rates as a percentage (between 0 and approx. 37%) or in "dollars per unit". If you ship goods with different duty rates together, your entire shipment may be taxed at the highest applicable duty rate.

ITEMS EXCLUDED FROM SHIPPING TO THE USA

As an online retailer, you have an important responsibility when shipping your products to the USA. It is essential that you carefully check the contents of your package as some items are excluded from shipping to the USA by both shipping carriers and applicable customs regulations.
